Art Studio Marketing & Social Media Intern

About the Role
A Boston-based visual artist’s studio is seeking a creative and reliable college student to join as a Marketing & Social Media Intern. This is a hands-on opportunity to work directly with a professional artist and gain practical experience in arts marketing, social media, and communications.
The intern will help shape how the studio connects with collectors, galleries, arts organizations, and the public while learning about the day-to-day promotion and operation of an independent professional art practice.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and help grow the studio’s social media presence, primarily on Instagram and other relevant platforms
- Photograph and create short videos of artwork, studio processes, exhibitions, and events
- Develop engaging posts, stories, and reels that reflect the artist’s work and visual identity
- Help plan and promote exhibitions, open studios, and community events
- Assist with email newsletters and website updates
- Research relevant press, exhibition, grant, and partnership opportunities
- Track basic social media analytics and identify effective content strategies
- Help organize and maintain the studio’s digital artwork archive and inventory database, including artwork images, titles, dimensions, exhibition history, sales status, and related records
- Assist with building and maintaining an organized database using Airtable or similar collection tools.
About You
- Currently enrolled college student, ideally studying marketing, communications, digital media, fine arts, or a related field
- Comfortable taking photographs and videos using a smartphone or camera
- Familiar with social media and interested in learning what makes digital content effective
- Responsible, organized, and able to work independently
- Genuinely interested in visual art and the creative process
- Experience with Canva, Adobe applications, or similar tools is a plus
- Familiarity with Airtable, spreadsheets, databases, or digital asset-management systems is a plus
Nice to Have
- Experience managing social media for a student organization, small business, brand, artist, or personal project
- Basic video-editing skills using CapCut, Premiere, or similar software
- Familiarity with Boston’s arts and cultural community
