The CDC Evaluation Fellowship Program (EFP) is accepting applications for the 2027 class, which is slated to start in August 2027. Learn evaluation skills and build, expand, and improve public health evaluation while working in a CDC host program. The fellowship is a two-year program, with the second year being contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Participating in EFP includes these benefits:
- Exposure to world-class evaluators and public health professionals who work at and visit CDC
- A view of the public health system from the federal level, working in different disease and prevention areas
- A strong cohort of evaluation fellows and an evaluation community of practice from whom fellows can learn and obtain feedback
- Strong program oversight and management from the Division of Workforce Development
- Access to limited-duration evaluation projects outside the host program that increase the fellow’s visibility and exposure across CDC and provide opportunities to learn and apply skills in topic areas that the fellow might not otherwise have
Qualifications
To apply to EFP, applicants must have the following.
- Have U.S. citizenship or be a permanent resident with a green card valid for at least two years from the start of the fellowship (early August 2027).
- Have significant applied program evaluation experience and be able to document three projects that demonstrate the depth and breadth of the evaluation experience.
- Have a doctoral or master’s level degree from an accredited academic institution in a field relevant to CDC’s work. Examples of degree concentration include public health, evaluation, epidemiology, sociology, evaluation, social work, and community psychology. Graduate or doctorate course work should have a public health or behavioral science focus.
- Have the highest degree conferred by June 2027.
- Live within a 50-mile radius of CDC host sites. All current host sites are located at CDC campuses in Atlanta, Georgia. If accepted, applicants must relocate to the location of the CDC host program.
Successful applicants range in their level of experience (e.g., from capstone projects in school, working in non-profit, to experience leading evaluation at larger institutions).
